Capgemini launches first ‘Giving Group’ for UK charities on TheGivingMachine

Employees raise ‘free’ money via TheGivingMachine

Capgemini is giving employees in the UK an opportunity to donate money to charities, such as Alzheimer’s Research UK, for free, in a first of a kind collaboration with fundraising shopping website, TheGivingMachine.

From 7 July 2011, over 8,000 employees will be given the chance to join the Capgemini Giving Group and every time they checkout at their regular online shops, they will be able to raise money for charity, without having to spend a penny extra.

How we raised £123.07 for our School this month

Karen Brand,  Chair of the PTA of Sundridge & Brasted Primary School told us how they grew their Giving Community and how they spend the cash they receive.

I’m the Chair of the PTA for our small primary school I decided to have a go at raising money via The Giving Machine.  Sundridge & Brasted Primary School is a lovely small school but therein lies the problem.  Each year only has 15 pupils, so raising money can be difficult.

TheGivingMachine Givers Keep Giving While Traditional Donations Have Decreased

I saw an article the other day from Civil Society saying that donations were down 9.6% on last year (see article here).  I then thought that I would have a look at what the behaviour of Givers on TheGivingMachine would reflect over the same time period.

Looking at Givers there was a slight difference in that the average donations per month reduced by less than 1% over the last 2 years which is brilliant news! Active Givers still give over £3.70 a month for free to their favourite causes when shopping via TheGivingMachine.

This suggests that Givers still enjoy giving for free just as much as before.  As for the donors referenced in the article above, spare cash for direct donations is clearly a little harder to find these days.

If the charities suffering a shortfall let their supporters know about TheGivingMachine, they might even make up that 9.6% drop quite easily.  We’d love to help out.
