Employees raise ‘free’ money via TheGivingMachine

Capgemini is giving employees in the UK an opportunity to donate money to charities, such as Alzheimer’s Research UK, for free, in a first of a kind collaboration with fundraising shopping website, TheGivingMachine.

From 7 July 2011, over 8,000 employees will be given the chance to join the Capgemini Giving Group and every time they checkout at their regular online shops, they will be able to raise money for charity, without having to spend a penny extra.

How June’s £140.98 donation payment makes a difference for Pathways4all

Share

Sue Welsh, part of the team at Pathways4All said…..

We have a very avid QVC shopper as one of our supporters, I imagine that this has helped swell our amount as we only have 14 supporters so far.  Pathways 4 All is a registered, parent led, charity based in North Tyneside where children with disabilities can come along and have fun.  We fundraise to develop and pay for equipment, family days and activities. This month’s donation payment moves us closer to our goal of our very own specialist play and recreational facility.

Good luck with your fundraising and we hope you reach your goal soon!

UK Charity Awards 2011 – Get involved

Share

The Charity Awards presentation evening will soon be here (9th June 2011) and they want everyone to take part … even if you’re not there.

Take your bow on the night!

It’s a really simple idea. Just take a 5 second clip on your phone or video camera of you “taking your bow” and upload it to their website. They will play them altogether on the big screen for a hopefully inspiring start to the evening. It can be just you, or why not have some fun by roping in your colleagues, trustees, benefactors and beneficiaries. And don’t worry about doing a professional job, they will do the hard work at their end.

To upload your clip, name your file after your charity and click here

UK is eighth most charitable nation

UK is eighth most charitable nation, says Charities Aid Foundation report

By Sophie Hudson, Third Sector Online, 8 September 2010

World Giving Index says Australia, New Zealand and Ireland are the three best at giving money, volunteering and helping strangers

The UK is the eighth most charitable nation in the world, according to an assessment published today by the Charities Aid Foundation.

The World Giving Index surveyed 195,000 people in 153 countries on three activities: giving money, giving time and helping a stranger.

Australia, New Zealand and Ireland were found to be the three most charitable nations based on assessments of those three activities.

For giving money, the UK came third, with 73 per cent of the population having donated to charity in the previous month. For helping a stranger, which asked people whether they had helped someone they did not know in the previous month, the UK came 27th. For volunteering it came 29th.

Adults in the UK gave £9.9bn to charity last year, with medical research, hospitals and hospices, and children and young people being the most popular causes, according to a previous report by CAF, UK Giving 2009.

Almost half of the overall top 20 charitable nations in The World Giving Index were developing countries, such as Turkmenistan and Guyana.

Richard Harrison, research director at CAF, said: “While the UK had expected to do well, what’s really interesting is how well some countries that are less affluent have done.”

Turkmenistan topped the table for volunteering, with 61 per cent of the population having given time in the previous month. Malta came top for giving money, with 83 per cent of the population having done so in the previous month, and Liberia was top for helping a stranger, with 76 per cent having done so in the previous month.
