A few weeks ago, I had the opportunity to speak to pupils and parents of Ford End School near Great Dunmow thanks to an invitation from Clare, the chair of their PTA. It was the first time I had been invited to speak to primary pupils and so I sought the advice and thoughts of others in TheGivingMachine team. We asked the pupils to tell us about what they would consider the greatest gift would be, who they would give it to and why. Here’s some of the highlights which are just wonderful and reminds you how brilliant children are. Richard

Rosy: Class 3, Year 5:
A cure for cancer. I would give it to the whole world. I would like them to feel happy and relieved so that they can look forward to the future

Isabelle
in Class 3, Year 5:
My Auntie Franie has always wanted to go to Borneo to see the orangutans. The greatest gift I could give to her would be to adopt and orangutan. Within the last ten years, the number of orangutans have fallen by between 30 and 50%. By adopting an orangutan, I would be helping to create protected areas of rainforest and give hope for the future of orangutans.
Auntie Franie would be given a certificate and I know it would make her feel very excited about one day going to Borneo to meet her orangutan.

Freddie:
I will give this to my Mummy because a thew [few] days ago my Mummy told me in my room she said “My favourite toy in your bedroom is your black puffle.”

Elanor Class 2, Year 3:
The greatest gift I could give anyone is my toys because I never usually give them away. A toy horse, a toy doll and a bracelet: I would give these to a girl because I’m a girl and I only have girl stuff. I would really feel good if someone likes my prezzants ! |
 |
Oliver in Class 1:
I have drawn pictures of aeroplanes to give to my Daddy because he could go to work in one, because he does lots of driving in his job and would never have to get stuck in traffic again.
|
 |
Hannah, Class 2:
I would like to give this to Leif because she is my best friend.
|
 |
Charlotte, Class1:
I would give my best friend Ruth in my class a flower and a butterfly because she likes them. |
 |
Ruth, Class 1:
A chicken for the children in Uganda to make them smile (frozen so they don’t have to kill them). |
